Broken Chain is not a typical SCUM server – and doesn't want to be.

Here, nothing will be handed to you. You have to fight for your survival – with endurance, intelligence, and experience. This server is aimed at players who don't play SCUM for the first time. Who miss that real survival feeling. Who don't sprint through the game, but want to progress step by step – because it's worth it.

The world here is dangerous, harsh, and unforgiving. If you run, you get exhausted. If you make noise, you attract hordes. You'll have to learn to get by with little, set priorities, and make smart decisions. And you will notice: That's exactly what makes it exciting.

Broken Chain offers you no comfort zone. Instead, it's a game world that challenges you – and that's why it's captivating. If you accept the challenge, you'll experience SCUM in a new way: slower, more intense, more thrilling.

Broken Chain is SCUM as it was meant to be: demanding, uncompromising, survival.

If you're just starting out, surviving on Broken Chain is really tough. You'll have bad weapons, need to run and search a lot, find little, and there are plenty of puppets. Exhaustion will get to you, you'll be hungry – and if you're unlucky, a bear will show up and chase you.

But that's the point. When you start with almost nothing, the struggle for survival is harder. You're convicts, freshly thrown onto the island – and they want you to fail. They want to get rid of you. Here, it's your will to survive that matters to make it through the early days.

I know: Most will fail, give up, leave the island again, and want things easier. They know there are other islands – servers, Miami Beach, Hawaii... where everything is easier. I get that. I've been on those islands long enough. But that wasn't survival.

Hold on. Show endurance. Have the will for your character to survive. Step by step, you'll get better weapons, a bicycle, a boat – maybe even find or buy a dirtbike.
Every upgrade makes survival noticeably easier.

⦿ Tips for Surviving on Broken Chain

Starter Kits: You'll find them at the monolith in B3, east of the main yellow road. The kits are in locked boxes – you'll find the code below under rules. One kit per box.
Workbenches: Every trader has a free-to-use workbench – very helpful since swords become dull quickly.
Player Motels: At the traders, you’ll find basic rooms with lockable wardrobes – perfect for starting out. Note: Inactive rooms are cleared after one week.
Exhaustion: Sprinting all the time or carrying heavy loads makes you exhausted quickly. Better: jog instead of sprint. Cigarettes and energy drinks help – especially with lots of gear. Always log out in a bed for better regeneration.
Fame Points & Cash: Trader quests help you get started and give fast rewards.
Weapon Choice: We recommend using a bow as your main weapon – silent and effective. Only use guns in emergencies.
Loot Zones: Especially rewarding are: Military Airbase D4, all burner bunkers, bootcamp B3, submarine base A4, D0 and Z4 area (with limited stay), and coastal villages like B4 or Z0.
Special Loot: In churches (altar & bible), police stations (under the stairs), small markets (with safes), and airdrops you may find rare items like INT modules, Phoenix syringes, or katanas.
Puppets: Killed puppets may occasionally drop pistols or puppet eyes, which can be sold for a good price.
NPP: If you're brave, you can recover uranium containers at the nuclear power plant – up to 5,000 SCUM dollars each at the trader.
Burner Bunkers: In the mech hall you'll find 50 BMG ammo in black containers; in the bunker's safes, you may find an M82, which can be sold for up to 100,000 SCUM dollars.

In SCUM, items are spawned according to this rule: A specific item is often found in certain places, less often, rarely, very rarely, or extremely rarely. So it's worth checking back regularly.

Puppets: They can take a lot of damage and are plenty. But they cannot open doors.
Deactivated Threats: No mechs, no suicide puppets (beepers, bombers).
Vehicles: Wolfwagen, tractor, dirtbikes, boats, bicycles, and wheelbarrows spawn naturally, all other vehicles can be purchased at any trader.
Vehicle and character damage: enabled
Permadeath: -1,000 $
Skills: Skills like theft, endurance, and others, level up faster.
Light blue zones: In D0 and Z4 loot amount is doubled. Max. 2 hours stay with vehicle or crate.
No bots or bot systems
Restart times (Europe/Berlin): 03:00 and 15:00 CET
Darkness from 23:00 to 02:00 in game. 60 minutes in game = 20 minutes in real life.

⦿ Server Rules

To ensure a harmonious and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone, we have established some basic rules for our Scum server. Please follow them so that everyone can enjoy the game:

Respectful behavior: Treat all players with respect. Insults, bullying, and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
PvE Server: No player may deliberately kill another player! Doing so will result in a ban.
Starter kit: Every player receives a starter kit at the monolith in B3, stored in locked crates. The code is: 550. In case your Char is dead, you can take a another Starterkit from the chest with 2nd chance on it. Pls do not miss use. We log all cases.
Airdrop: The player who opens the drop’s door first owns the drop and can decide. Cooperation is always possible, and the drop can be shared.
Free Wolfswagen or dirtbikes may only be claimed if moved away – i.e., if they have wheels attached.
Vehicles: Everyone may only own one car, one tractor, one motorcycle, one boat, and one airplane.
Flags: Each player or team may place only 2 flags.
Recommendation: Doors should always be closed in military installations.

🌟 Trader Time Trial

A few weeks ago, we crowned our racing champion (Reaper8_8) with an impressive time of 32:21 minutes. However, the Broken Chain administration is still looking for even faster and more reliable couriers who can deliver from point to point in the shortest possible time. Whoever breaks the current record will receive 25,000 Scum Dollars plus 250 fame points.
Procedure and Rules:

The starting point is the General Goods trader in Z3.
Opposite the Armory (Z3) is a cabinet with jars available.
Take 5 jars from the cabinet. The race begins as soon as you sell the first jar at the General Goods in Z3.
Your goal: Visit all other General Goods traders as quickly as possible and sell one jar at each. Finally, return to Z3 to sell the last jar. Whoever achieves the shortest total time from trader Z3 to B4, to C2, to A0, and back to Z3 wins.
Each sale is logged to the second, and the data is made available to the administration daily.
Help from other players is allowed as long as no airplane is used.
The use of airplanes is strictly prohibited.

A specially programmed script records the exact times in seconds, so no admin needs to be present. Let us know when you've done the race!
